We’ll meet at 2pm at The Grand Lodge entrance to Heaton Park and stroll to the Lakeside Café, taking in the fresh air, scenic surroundings, and the opportunity for relaxed conversation along the way. You’re welcome to join for both lunch and the walk, or just the walk, whichever suits you best.

Join Quizmaster Alan and pit your wits against the best of the Circle Quizzers. Our Afternoon Quiz is held monthly on the 2nd Thursday of every month. Including general knowledge questions and a picture round, the quiz has fun elements as well as some trickier questions. £2.00 per player - teams of 4 maximum. Tea, Coffee provided.

Join Clare and Circle friends for a walk around Hollingworth Lake. It may be muddy underfoot, and we recommend sturdy walking boots and suitable clothing for the weather and the walk.

Learn more  about Manchester’s iconic international concert venue, The Bridgewater Hall. The entertaining and knowledgeable tour guides will lead you through the building’s history, its acoustics and architecture, as well as giving you access to parts of the building not usually open to the public.

Please note that the undercroft is accessed by two flights of metal steps – unfortunately there is no step-free access to this part of the building; all other areas are fully accessible.

The tour will last for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes starting at the Information Desk.

Join Circle member Rod for this 3-4 mile woodland & parkland circular walk which takes in two of Bury’s Green Flag Parks; Hoyles Park & Clarence Park as well as a woodland trail walk through the ancient Chesham Woods. There will be an opportunity to take a rest break in Clarence Park and visit one of the two cafe facilities (Jubilee Cafe or The Green) before returning through the park back to Hoyles Park where the walk ends. Some of the trails through the woodland can be uneven with exposed tree roots and the approaching footpaths to the woods can also be muddy after wet weather. If weather has been particularly wet before the walk, the route may divert slightly to avoid this, with a more direct route around the woods between the two parks. Sturdy footwear is recommended! *Please note that dogs are not allowed on this particular walk*

Ten Pin Bowling has been a favourite event of Circle Members for as long as we can remember. Come along and join us for a game of bowling. It’s a great place to catch up with Circle friends. 11:45am for 12 noon start. It’s also suitable for beginners, and there’s support ramps to assist with sending the bowl down the alley if you need it. Book today!

The story is based on the real-life tragedy that took place in the Welsh village of Aberfan on Friday 21st October 1966 when colliery spoil tips created on a mountain slope collapsed and very sadly crashed into, and destroyed the school and surrounding homes killing 116 children and 28 adults  

Set eight months after the tragedy in 1967 we find that some of the mothers who lost children have set up a meeting place in the Aberfan Hotel, generally to discuss their situation, air their grievances and try to make sense of their changed and traumatised lives. 

For one of their sessions, they decide to invite a “Revlon Girl” to give them a makeup demonstration and beauty tips as they realise that they had stopped caring about their appearance.

 What follows on stage is that truths are told and deep feelings are brought to the surface as the mothers try to go on with their lives after such a traumatic disaster and great loss. But what stands out is the shared bond of empathy and understanding that only these women can know about.
