Privacy and terms

Overview

As Rochdale Circle CIC t/a Heywood, Middleton & Rochdale Circle (HMR Circle) is a not for profit organisation, in that any profit made is used for its own purposes and not for the financial benefit of others, we are exempt from notification to the Information Commissioner. We nevertheless adhere to the eight principles of the Data Protection Act 1998. These principles require that personal information is:

  • processed fairly and lawfully
  • processed for limited purposes
  • adequate, relevant and not excessive
  • accurate and up to date
  • not kept for longer than is necessary
  • processed in line with the rights of individuals
  • secure
  • not transferred to other countries without adequate protection

Data protection awareness should also be built into future training and induction programmes


DPA Declaration

In accordance with the provision of the Data Protection Act 1998, any personal data which is supplied to us will be held in a secure database and used solely for the purpose of Circle. We may pass details of your place of residence to Neighbourhood Helpers and/or Tradespeople that have been recommended through us to enable work at your place of residence to be undertaken. Information will only be passed to other members upon your request and /or agreement.

Additionally, we may use your data anonymously when compiling aggregate information about general usage in order to perform statistical analysis to help us understand and improve the service we deliver, both within Circle and the wider Participle organisation.

The following is the privacy policy to be posted on the Circle website:

This policy sets out how Rochdale Circle CIC uses and protects any information that you give Rochdale Circle CIC when you use our website, or contact us by mail, e-mail, telephone or speak to a member of our team in person.

Rochdale Circle CIC is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified when interacting with us in any of the ways mentioned above, then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement.

Rochdale Circle CIC may change this policy from time to time by updating this document. You can request to receive updates on this policy to ensure that you are happy with any changes. This policy is effective from 19th September 2012.


What we collect

We collect the following information:

  • Demographic information such as postcode, preferences and interests
  • Other information relevant to customer surveys, new services and offers

What we do with the information we gather We require this information to understand your needs and provide you with a better service, and in particular for the following reasons:

  • To improve our products and services
  • To periodically send promotional material (via phone, post or e-mail) about new products, special offers or other information which we think you may find interesting using the details which you have provided
  • For market research purposes, but you are not obliged to participate in any research. We may contact you by email, phone, or mail

How we use cookies

We may use your personal information to send you promotional information about third parties which we think you may find interesting, unless you inform us that you do not wish to receive this information.

You may request details of personal information which we hold about you under the Data Protection Act 1998. A small fee may be payable. If you would like a copy of the information held on you please write to us.
